To start off the model year 2004, smart is offering new standard equipment and accessories for the models smart fortwo coupe und smart fortwo cabrio in the equipment lines pulse and passion. Simultaneously, the second edition of the successful special model "starblue" of smart fortwo cabrio will be launched. The smart fortwo cabrio starblue can be ordered immediately and will be delivered to the first customers in February.
To underline the sporting character of the smart fortwo coupe pulse and cabrio pulse, these two model variants will be delivered in the current model year with a three spoke leather sports steering wheel and steering wheel gearshift as standard. Furthermore, the pulse models will be fitted with the new dynamic "coreline" alloy wheels ex-works - 5J x 15's on the front and 6.5J x 15's on the rear, with wide tyre formats 175/55 R 15 (front) and 195/50 R 15 (rear).
The smart fortwo passion line standard models also have new alloy wheels: The elegant "styleline" rims measuring 4 J x 15 (front), 5.5J x 15 (rear) and tyre sizes 145/65 R15 (front), 175/55 R15 (rear). In addition, the smart fortwo passion has comfort windscreen wipers as standard with speed-sensitive wiping and the central locking drive lock which is activated when the car is moving.
As well as the enhanced standard equipment, customers can choose from three new accessory packages for the smart fortwo in the 2004 model year: The audio package (radio CD, sound package, CD holder), the Safety Plus package (fog lights, side airbags, electrically adjustable and heated door mirrors) and the Comfort package (softouch automatic transmission, electric power steering, drive lock, comfort windscreen wipers). Individual components of these packages can, of course, be ordered separately as optional equipment.
This comprehensive new range of standard and accessory equipment is rounded off with the attractive edition smart fortwo cabrio starblue. It can be ordered immediately and will be delivered to the first customers in February.
The smart cabrio in the colour star blue metallic - combined with a silver tridion safety cell - is based on the sporty pulse design and equipment line and is available with a 45 kW (61 bhp) petrol engine. The highlight of the special model is the fabric roof which comes in dark blue instead of the usual black. The smart fortwo cabrio starblue costs € 16,150 including VAT in Germany.
Technically, all the smart fortwo models in the model year 2004 will continue to offer the familiar high standard of motoring comfort, engine and safety technology which makes this car pioneering and unique in the small car segment. All models are equipped as standard with the electronic stability programme (esp) incorporating hill start assist and brake assist, and the anti-locking braking system (abs) with electronic brake-force distribution.
The smart fortwo is offered as a coupe and a cabrio in the design and equipment lines pure, pulse and passion and also as the exclusive, sporty BRABUS line. The three cylinder turbo petrol engines with 698 cc capacity offer power output of 50 bhp (37 kW) or 61 bhp (45 kW), with the exclusive BRABUS variant of the fortwo delivering 75 bhp (55kW). In addition to this, smart fortwo cdi is fitted with the 41 bhp (30 kW) common rail direct injection diesel engine - the most successful "three-litre" car on offer worldwide.
